General Information

What you should Bring:
The weather should be lovely. With highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s with a 30% chance of rain currently on Wednesday. Now this if from a 10-day forecast and those are almost never accurate so we will cross our fingers and hope that the rain chances diminish as the conference approaches. Just in case you may want to pack a small umbrella and a light jacket or sweater. You may also wish to bring some comfy shoes as we will have a bit of walking to do on Thursday. Also both Hotels are right on running trails that run along the river – so for those of you that like to have a morning or evening run you have really fantastic access to our best downtown trails.

When you arrive at the airport you have a couple of transportation options to your hotel:

1. You can make a reservation with Super Shuttle. From the Airport to either hotel is $13/person or if you want an entire van for your group it is $54 (for up to 7 passengers) – For Reservations call 1.800.BLUE VAN (258.3826) or you can book online here: http://www.supershuttle.com/en/AUSAirportShuttleAustin.html

2. Taxi options: Approximately $20-$27 to travel to or from the airport to downtown. Cabs will be available immediately at the airport when you arrive

3. Or  you can take the bus. Capital Metro Bus 100-Airport Flyer – It picks up right outside the airport. Its $1 if your going to the Radisson and $2 to the Hyatt (because you have to transfer buses)

Take the bus from the Airport and hop off at 6th and Congress. Then you will walk  south on Congress Ave to Cesar Chavez (about 5 blocks) to the Radisson or to get to the Hyatt Regency, cross Congress Ave and take the M1 bus heading south on Congress. You’ll want to get off at the first stop after you cross the Congress Ave. Bridge.

Where is the Hotel?
Most folks are staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This hotel will be our base of operations and will house the hospitality suite (room number soon to come). The Hyatt Regency is located at 208 Barton Springs Road just south of Lady Bird Lake and just to the west of Congress Avenue.

The rest of the APASO crew will be at the Radisson Suites just north of Lady Bird Lake and just east of Congress Avenue. The Radisson is at 111 Cesar Chavez.

What to do when you arrive:

Well, once you check in (you will receive your conference bag and your badge when you check in) and rest after your long trip you’ll want to get ready for the Champagne Reception that we are throwing in your honor at the Arthouse at the Jones Center (700 Congress Avenue). At 6:30 you will want to meet in your respective hotel lobbies to walk with an ACA Staffer to the Arthouse. If you arrive after 6:45 you are welcome to come straight to the reception. We will have an area to check any luggage that you might bring along with you. The Reception begins at 7pm and wraps up around 9:30pm

The First Session:
Tuesday morning is the official start of the conference. You’ll want to meet in your hotel lobby at 8am with your ACA Staffer. From there we will hop on a bus that will take us to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

FYI about Hotel WI-Fi:
Wi-Fi at both hotels is available for a fee but we will have Wi-Fi for free in the Hospitality Suite

Thursday – Continental Breakfast and Lunch
